May Birchbox

For those who don’t know, Birchbox is monthly subscription where you get sample of items each month.  Occasionally in the box you might get a full size sample of a product.  Sometimes the boxes have a theme and this month’s theme was Gossip Girl.  The card inside says that the samples that are included in this month’s box are “inspired by the series and Manhattan’s chicest events.”

This month’s products include:
Caudalie- Hand and Nail cream
FusionBeauty- LipFusion Balm (full size)
Arquiste- Flor y Canto (perfume)
Ojon- damage reverse Restorative Conditioner
Notecards

Caudalie Hand and Nail cream keeps my hands super soft, even though I wash my hands 500 times a day while im at work.  Out of everything in this box, this is the one product that I will most likely purchase the full size product.

FusionBeauty is the one product that I am a little hesitant to try.  It’s a lip plumping balm and I already have plum lips…

The Arquiste perfume smells delightful! It’s the perfect scent for a Texas summer.  Not too heavy and not too cloyingly sweet.

The Ojon damage reverse Restorative Conditioner is a product that might need a few more trys in order to give and opinion on but so far so good.

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain is at the Cannes Film Festival with the world premiere of her film “Lawless” with Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf.  Jessica knows how to play up her red locks and pale skin with a gold, sheer Gucci Première dress. At first I wasn't a fan of the dress from behind, but the front, wow.

What do you guys think?

OOTD: Zig Zag

I am in need of pants.  After I took this pictures, I realized that I might not need to wear these pants ever again.  They are way too baggy on me.  Or maybe I should start wearing heels with these pants instead of flats all of the time. When I put on the pants, they seemed fine...
Green Sweater:Old Navy/ Top: Avenue/ Pants: Macy's/ Bracelet: Thrifted

This shirt was purchased at the Avenue on sale and its not too heavy for Texas weather..  After wearing tons of bright colors, I figured I should finish out the week with some muted, yet still viberant colors.  I wore my trusty green sweater so I could cover up my tattoos.

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Cassie

The Cannes Film Festival is still going on in France and of course plenty of red carpets being rolled out for the movie premiere.  The premiere of “Killing Them Softly had r&b singer Cassie walk down the red carpet in a Roberto Cavalli black beaded chiffon gown and accented by emerald earrings.

This look is absolutely stunning, except for the shaved hair.  Can we please move on past that trend?  It ruins an otherwise beautiful look.  What do you think?

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Frieda Pinto

Oh Frieda Pinto, you are always so hit or miss with your fashions.  We still love you though!

Please take a look at some of her choice of dresses from the Cannes Film Festival.

What do you think?

OOTD: Melon or Salmon?

As I write this blog, I’m still not sure on what exactly should I name this color.  Is it melon or is it salmon or is it another name? These jeans are the same brand as the ones that I wore in a few blogs back, but somehow these don’t look like I was swimming in them.  I’m still looking for a tailor that can help me with my clothing issues.  The sweater helps tone down the brightness of the pants and makes them more acceptable for the workplace.

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Jada Pinkett Smith

The Cannes Film Festival is going on over in France.  All the stars are there, including Jada Pinkett Smith, whose movie Madagascar 3 is just happening to premiere at the festival.  Jada is rocking Atelier Versace’s spring 2012 collection with gold sandals to complete the look.

Doesn’t she look fab?  She has the perfect body to pull off this look and the high slit on this dress.  The orange complements her beautiful, bronzed skin.

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Eva Longoria

THIS. DRESS. RIGHT. HERE.

Eva Longoria is at the Cannes Film Festival and this dress is giving me LIFE.  Words cannot express how beautiful this Marchesa dress is on Eva.  When she walks in a room with this dress it’s gonna give you the wow factor and when she leaves the room, it’s gonna give you the “Oh my DAMN,” factor.

Do not hate on Eva the diva…

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Diane Kruger

Whenever I see Diane Kruger on the red carpet or out and about, her outfits are either hit or miss for me.  Either she looks absolutely stunning or she looks horrible.  At the opening ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival, I am happy to say she looks stunning in a Giambattista Valli pastel dress.

Her pale skin and blond hair complement this dress so perfectly.  Absolutely amazing!

OOTD: Mixing Prints and Weddings

I really love a good wedding, especially if there is really good cake afterwards.  I was invited to the wedding of one of my very awesome friends, Indi.  The wedding was outdoors and held in the back yard that has been converted into a Biergarten.   What’s a Biergarten you ask?  A place of awesomeness… ha!  Normally when there isn’t a wedding there, it has tables and chairs and it’s a great place to spend spring and summer evenings.  You can bring beer, wine and snacks for your enjoyment.
Aunt K

The wedding was on a nice, sunny Saturday evening and a nice breeze came through to keep everyone cool.  My dates for the wedding were my Aunt K and my mum.   We picked a table that was under a tree to help keep us to be even cooler from the Texas sun.  Each table was simply decorated with wine bottles, jars, tree branches, candles, and roses.  The wedding was casual, but you know I had to bring out the best for the wedding.

There was a program that you could pick up when you came in that listed the times for everything, the wedding party and could be used to save your seat (so smart!)  The first part of the evening was the popcorn bar and beverages.  The popcorn choices where buttered and cheddar dill (I think) and I picked the dill.  It was heaven in my mouth!  We grabbed a few beers and sat and watched the people fill in. Dinner was served and it was a buffet.  Very simple but elegant; salad, steamed veggies, either lasagna or chicken parmesan.  Oh and more beer.

After dinner, the ceremony began.  Indi looked so beautiful in her short wedding dress and Tom’s.    If you knew Indi, you would expect exactly what she wore from her.  The wedding party wore melon colored dresses and shirts.  I hardly ever cry at weddings but this one made me misty. I think that all the love that surrounded Indi and Chris (the groom) just got to me.  Seeing my friend happy made me happy.

The night ended with great conversations, laughter, love and more beer.

OOTD: Mayfest

Hi... I go by the name of lalaG and I am a shorty… For all legal purposes, I am 5’4” (don’t ask me why,) in reality I am 5’2” and when I wear pants, you can really see how short I am.  I really need to find a great tailor for my pants.  I have been rocking the skinny jeans lately, but the problem I have is that they are for girls that are slightly taller than I am.  These gray ones are by Levi’s and I absolutely love them.  They are super tight, but look fab on me. Except for that whole looking baggy thing on me.  I’m a work in progress; I will get it worked out.

Shirt: Lane Bryant/ Jeans: Levi's/ Shoes: Payless

We spend a Thursday out at Mayfest before all the kids and families came out.  It wasn’t too hot just yet and luckily it was in the evening so we avoided all of the Texas Spring sun.  My friend Christa Russell was playing that night and it was my first time seeing her perform live.  Awesomeness all around on her performance, but I don’t expect anything less from Christa.

Christa Russell --- Check out her music!

We ate, we drank, and we people watched and got free stuff.  I had the most awesome gator dog.

Yes I did say gator dog.  It was about the size of a hot link and was just served on a piece of white bread. It wasn’t greasy and it had the right amount of heat to it.  Loved it.

I would have to say it was a great evening.
