Tips for dry skin

I am a huge fan of winter.  I love the effect of the cold weather on my skin.  Normally during the hot and humid times of Texas weather, my face is an oil slick.  In the winter, makeup does not slide off my face.  The only problem of when winter weather on my face is that when I wash it, sometimes it gets a little bit too dried out.  I moisturize and then put on primer then everything else.  If you are experiencing some issues with dryness, here are some tips to help you out.

·         Water- I can’t stress this enough.  Water helps in your inside and outside.

·         Vitamin E- Either the capsules that you can pop and spread on your face or lotions with Vitamin E in them also helps your skin. Taking the Vitamin E capsules will also help from the inside out.

·         Flax seed- by adding just a table spoon to your morning breakfast cereal will help increase you fatty acids that help your skin.  Also eating plenty of fresh fish provides you with Omega- 3 which helps your skin become less dry

·         Try using a cool mist humidifier in your room for a couple of days.  You will see changes in your skin.

·         Don’t wash your face with hot water. The coolest water you can stand is best to wash your face.  Scalding hot water is drying and just uncomfortable.

These are just some of the things I do to get rid of dry skin.

My love for Tom Ford

There is something about Tom Ford that I love. Ok, I will admit, I love everything about Tom Ford. First, he was born in Austin, Texas in 1961.  That alone should be enough to love him, but there is so much more to Ford. In his early career, Ford has worked for such American designers as Cathy Hardwick and Perry Ellis under designer Marc Jacobs.  Eventually Ford tired of American fashion and wanted to move on to European fashion. In a New York Times story, he commented, “If I was ever going to become a good designer, I had to leave America. My own culture was inhibiting me. Too much style in America is tacky. It's looked down upon to be too stylish. Europeans, however, appreciate style.”

Gucci hired Ford in attempts to save the drowning label in 1990. At first Ford became the chief designer for the women’s ready- to- wear collection, moving into men’s and eventually shoes.  1992, Ford became design director, heading the brand's ready-to-wear, fragrances, image, advertising, and store design. In 1994, Ford became creative director of Gucci and with his first year, sales increased to 90% and when Ford left the Gucci Group (which also included YSL), the company was valued at 10 billion dollars.

In 2005, Tom Ford announced the TOM FORD brand. In that same year, Ford announced his partnership with Marcolin Group to produce glasses and sunglasses as well as an collaboration with Esteé Lauder to create the TOM FORD Beauty brand. There are currently 16 private blend and 5 signature fragrances in the TOM FORD beauty collection.

Also in 2005, Ford announced the opening of his film production company, FADE TO BLACK. In 2009, Ford made his film directorial debut with A Single Man, which was based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood.

In the Fall 2010, Ford introduced his Spring/Summer 2011 line of clothing in only the way Tom Ford could do such.  Ford had his friends, (Julianne Moore, Beyoncé to name a few) models and inspirations to rock his clothing.  The runway show was very hush hush and no cameras were allowed in.

 From the looks of things, Tom Ford is bringing back glitz, glam and high drama to fashion!

The new it bag of 2011?

Have you seen the Furla Candy bags?  They are so cute.  They remind me of the Jelly Birken bags that everyone had back in the day, including myself. They also remind me of Jelly shoes that people rocked back in the day. The bag only retails for $195, and this bag would add a bit of punch to any outfit.
