Project Runway All Stars Season 2 Ep 3

I have been in no rush to write this.  This season has been such a bore.  I need for the drama to be stepped up.  I will say this; the clothes have been pretty awesome to look at.  I can’t wait to see what else is up the designers’ sleeves.
Carolyn meets the designers over in Long Island City where they meet at a building that is covered in aerosol art or also known as graffiti.    The challenge is to create wearable art.  The designers get a crate of spray paint and 7 yards of either cotton or chiffon.  They also get 50 dollars for anything else they might need at Mood.  The judges are looking for something that will look good in an art gallery as it would on the runway.
So far some of the prints look pretty cool.  Let’s see what they do with them.
Kanye… yours is a hot ass mess.  I hope you can pull it all together.
Today’s guest judges are Jeffery Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, fashion designers.
That bow on Andre’s dress, no.

I understand what Kanye was trying to do with his dress, but I don’t think he pulled it off in the way he wanted it to go.

Emilio’s is a piece that you could rock anytime, anywhere. FAB.

Anthony Ryan, Emilio and Ivy are in the top.  I’m still trying to figure out why Ivy is in the top three.
Laura Kathleen, Suede, and Kayne are in the bottom three.

Emilio is this week’s winner.  SN: Amena (sp?) from America’s Next Top model is on here… lookin fab.
Suede is out!

I NEED SOME DRAMA!

Project Runway All Stars Season 2 Ep 2

So far season 2 of All Stars is kind of a bust.  I do expect it to pick up some steam when there are less and less designers, or so I hope.
Peach was out and I really don’t see why she was even back on the all-stars show.  At the beginning of the episodes, the designers and Carolyn meet up with Stefani Greenfield, CCO of the Jones group at thy Nine West showroom.  She tells the designer that they have to create an evening outfit based on the 70’s/disco era.  The designers’ pick out a shoe that is to be worn by the model in the challenge. All the shoes are platform heels or wedges in every color and pattern there is.  The winning designer will also be featured in the fall Nine West ad with their design.

Wendy’s design… lord those pants.

Wendy and Josh start dancing. Shit was fun nay

When the designers get back to the hotel, they have a special video message from Karl Lagerfeld.  It was cute.

Special guest judge is creative director of Nine West Handbags, Rafe Totengco.
Wendy’s design looked like Jamie Lee Curtis in Trading Places.

Ivy, Uli, Casanova are in the top but Uli is the only that they really liked.

Wendy, Andre and Kanye are in the bottom.
The winner of the challenge is Uli!
The designer that goes home is Wendy.

Project Runway All Stars Season 2, Episode 1

Are you excited as I am about the second season of Project Runway All Stars? (I know im late with this post....)  After a very disappointing season ten of Project Runway, previous designers are coming back to prove once and for all that they are the best designer.   The cast includes:
Wendy Pepper (Season 1)
Andrae Gonzalo (Season 2)
Kayne Gillaspie (Season 3)
Uli Herzner (Season 3)
Suede Baum (Season 5)
Althea Harper (Season 6)
Emilio Sosa (Season 7)
Peach Carr (Season 8)
Ivy Higa (Season 8)
Casanova (Season 8)
Anthony Ryan Auld (Season 9)
Laura Kathleen Planck (Season 9)
Joshua McKinley (Season 9)

Oh Project Runway, you had me at Wendy Pepper and trust and believe she is still a bitch.  Supermodel Carolyn Murphy is replacing the boring Angela Lindvall as host.  Thank you sweet baby Jesus.
Carolyn comes out and explains the rules and the prizes to the designers.  The winner gets to go to every fashion week in every city around the world… SwEET!  The total amount of prizes is over a quarter million dollars.

The designers go to meet Joanna Cole and they find out that the first challenge is a group challenge.  Wendy was picked last. AWESOMENESS.  The theme of the challenge is attitude.  The designers will have to create a piece that has to deal with an attitude and it has to be cohesive with everyone else’s designs.  Oh the clashing of the personalities.

Casanova has taken some English lessons?  You can actually understand him.

Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman (Co-founder of Marchesa) are back as judges and the guest judges are Rachel Roy and Project Runway All Star season 1 winner, Mondo Guerra.
Team Bold, I am not impressed by your designs.
Joshua wants to be Tom Ford.
I like Team Confidant’s choice of leather and lace.
Team Confidant is the winner of the two.

Casanova, Ivy and Anthony Ryan are in the top three.
Peach, Suede and Andre are in the bottom.
Anthony Ryan is the winner of the challenge.  The designer that goes home is Peach.  Her design was all over the place and was just a mess.

Project Runway All Stars--- Season Finale!

Project Runway All Stars—Season Finale!
I am so sorry for the delay of this post; I went out of town for a much needed mini vacation to Austin and missed the finale!
The final three boiled down to Austin, Michael and Mondo, I expected Mondo and Austin to be in the finals, but Michael?  He has come a long way, I will admit that, but he seems a lil bit too cocky this season.
The finale takes place at Gotham Hall in New York City, a special location just for the Project Runway All Star finale.  Each area backstage is equipped for each individual and has a fully stocked Neiman Marcus accessories wall for them.  Austin frantically rushed to finished one of his designs, Michael is having zipper problems and Mondo can’t get the tights he wants for his clothing.  Designer problems.
Tommy Hilfiger and Ken Downing, fashion director from Neiman Marcus are the guest judges for this competition.  I still can’t get use to this Angela Lindvall chick… they need someone else with a bit more personality to host this show.  Anyhoo… Austin is the first to show his collection.  His collection is titled, “Austin Scarlett,” and there is a story behind it but I can’t stop laughing to tell the story.  It was something about vampires and romanticism or something like that.  For what Austin described as his story, it actually matched what he was talking about.  There were pieces that I couldn’t wear, but still beautiful all the same.  The wedding dress was to die for, although I wish he wouldn’t have added the black accents.
Mondo is next and his collection was named “Therapy.”  He explained that through his lack of inspiration for the collection he eventually came up with a collection and the process was a form of therapy.  This collection is completely Mondo.  The patters, the colors or some may say the lack thereof, never straying from what is Mondo.
Michael’s collection was inspired by the Serengeti and it was also the name of his collection.  Michael’s collection also was devoid of color but with the variety of patterns, it seemed like there wasn’t any color missing.  Each one of these collections looked AMAZING.  I would love to wear each and everything that was put on the runway, but there can be only one winner.
The judges brought out each designer and their collection (there was only six looks) and the winner is…Mondo.

Project Runway All Stars--- ep 11

(this post should be more, but im tired yall)
Last week’s episode gave way to who would be showing at fashion week.  The finalists are Mondo, Austin and Michael.  None of you should be shocked by who is in the final three.  Kenley was kicked off.  She couldn’t get past her own ego and that last dress looked frumpy.
The designers have to create a five- look collection in four days and the budget is $3000 dollars.  The designers meet with Joanna and she gives them tips and advice on what to do for their shows.  The designers run all over Mood search for fabrics and inspiration.  When the designers come back to work on their designs, the designers are put in separate rooms equipped with table and sewing machine.  One designer is starting to feel the pressure and is lacking the inspiration.  This episode even goes back to when the designers would pick the models for the show.  I have always loved this part of Project Runway.  Isaac stops by to give a few tips, pointers and music for the runway shows.
Two days before the runway show, the designers get a new challenge, create a new look from the discarded fabrics from the entire season.  The designers get another surprise; they get to pick a former contestant to help them.  My boo Anthony comes back to help Austin, Mila for Mondo and April helps Michael.
Next week, it all goes down… will you be watching?

Project Runway All Stars Ep- 10

We are getting down to the final few on Project Runway All Stars.  Jerell was eliminated for his mess of an electronic design from last week.  I had a feeling he saw it coming after seeing his design.  We are down to Mondo, Michael, Kenley, and Austin in the final four and things are getting intense!
Tonight’s client is Nanette Lepore and the winning designer will have their design sold in her store all over the country.  The design has to be within a specific price range and ready to wear.  The main lesson of this challenge is to stay within a particular price range and to see things from the business side of the creative design.  It seems like all the designers are all having issues with their designs, well except for Michael.  Michael’s designs are all the same, you can’t mess up a repeat. On a side note, did you know that one of the models just happens to be a past contestant of America’s Next Top Model…?
This week’s faves are Mondo and Kenley and kinda Austin.  LOL his design is growing on me slowly.  The three that are going to fashion week is no shock to me.  You know the judges do have their favorites… *epic side eye*

Project Runway All Stars—Ep 9

In last week’s episode, we bid a farewell to Mila.  Her dress was not accepted by the judges.  I loved it because the concept of it was so different, but yet so Mila.    May I just add that Michael is becoming an annoying little man.  He just whines when he doesn’t get what he wants and I am so over it! And this chick is no Heidi Klum! So sorry for the interruption.
The challenge is to use light and technology into the designer’s creations. Basically your creation has to glow in the dark. We also found out who the guest judge was going to be for the episode, Pharell!  Pharell will use the winning creation in one of his upcoming artist’s video.  The budget was $300 dollars at the light and special effects shop and $100 at Mood.
The only one person out of tonights competitors that I really actually liked was, surprise, Kenley’s dress.  It was by far (In my opinion) the best.  It was creative and somehow strangely wearable.  Jerell’s was second… but when they changed it up during judging… the dress was so much better.  I was shocked how bored I was by Mondo’s dress.
Let me just say… the winner… BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  And the person who was kicked off… BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Project Runway All Stars—Ep 8

We are getting gown to the fip inal 6 and the competition is getting HOT!  Kara finally got the boot (she should have been kicked off awhile back, but I’m not a judge.)  I liked Kenley’s outfit, but it didn’t fit the particular guidelines of the challenge, but she made to it through the next round.

The beginning of the challenge takes place in front of the United Nations building and all are excited.  The challenge for the designers are to design a dress inspire by the flags of the country of the major world regions.  The countries are Chile, Greece, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, India, and the Seychelles.   Each will select a flag and the colors and the culture will influence the look.  The budget was $200 dollars.

At first, some of the designers started off kinda rocky, making the dresses look too costumey.  I will say this, some of the costumes where completely out of the box, which is a good thing.  And some looked like they were about to enter a pageant!  The absolutely fabulous Catherine Malandrino was the guest judge for this challenge and was picked because she created an entire collection based on the American flag.  My faves where Jerell, Mila, Mondo and (shock) Kenley.  Kenley’s dress was sooo different from the rest and that makes it unique!

It’s down to the final five… who do you think is gonna win it?

Project Runway All Stars—Ep 7

The judges aint playin around.  For sure I thought Rami would be one of the top 3 showing his collection at NYFW, but I was very wrong.  Rami was kicked off due to a horrible looking shirt that was the nail in the coffin for him.  Jerell won his first challenge after having major static with another designer … Congrats!

The challenge was a first for Project Runway, the winner of the challenge would have his or her design feature in the Broadway revival of Godspell and bio in the playbill.  The designers had to design an outfit that can be put together as separates.  Mondo is starting to struggle with his designs and his challenges, he clothes are starting to look over worked and heavy.

The outfits were cute, but I don’t know if they exactly fit the challenge at hand.  Mondo, Jerell, Michael and Kinsley (I know right!) were my faves and of course the judges didn’t agree.  Not at all shocked by who was eliminated this time…

Project Runway All Stars--- Episode 6

I am so sad by the departure of Anthony from last week’s show.  It took me a minute to come with the reality that he will not be there anymore.  The outfit that he created was amazing, but it couldn’t be judged because he didn’t follow the rules.

Angela comes out with bags… weekend bags.  Each of the bags has a luggage tag with each of the four seasons on it.  The designers have to create sportswear for a weekend look and the budget was $200 dollars.  It became a competition. Whoever had the same season as you, that’s who you were competing against.  As the episode went on, there happened to be some apparent copying of designs and the designer was called out on it.  Someone wasn’t a happy camper!

The absolutely lovely Cynthia Rowley was the guest judge for this episode. My absolute faves were Mondo, Kara, Kenley, and Mila.  As for the two designers who were having the copy issue, well I didn’t have a fave.
Well I should have seen the winner coming and as for the loser… damn this is anyone’s game….

Project Runway All Stars—Episode 5

The designer who was kicked off last week was …. April.  April had great intentions with her dress but lack of fabric and over styling made her the obvious choice in who was going home.

For this week’s challenge the designers were to find a muse in the park to inspire a fashion forward look.  The designers then had to convince the “muse” to give them their clothes off.  The budget was $150 and you could use the money to help bribe the muse for the clothes and the rest for fabric at Mood.  50% of the look had to come from the clothes of the muse.  The good news from this challenge is that they were given 2 days to complete the look.   A few of the designers had issues in chatting up people to give them their clothes and some, like Anthony, had no problems at all. All Anthony had to do is ask, and a guy came out of his pants.

Once in the work room, a lot of designers struggled with completing a look once getting back to the workroom.  Always at the last minute, the designers always pull something together.  The guest judge was NHL star and fashion trendsetter, (this guy interned at Vogue) Sean Avery.  Some of my favorite designers of the night were Mila, Austin, Rami and Anthony.  The designers in the top and bottom six, all of them deserve to be where they were placed.  The person who won… I should have saw it coming.  The person who was kicked off… *epic side eye*

Quote of the night:  “Kenley is too loud.  If a black person says that you are too loud, you are too damn loud.”- Anthony,  Project Runway All Starsisode

Project Runway All Stars Episode 4

The designer who was kicked off of episode 3 of Project Runway All Stars was Jordana.  Her dress for Miss Piggy was cute, but not for an opening for a movie.

For this episode, Diane Von Furstenberg tells the designers what the challenge is for this week. The designers are to make a tasteful dress that is inspired by gelato. The some of the colors are kiwi, chocolate, cantaloupe and many others.  Oh… and the designers are to make the outfit in six hours. This is the fastest challenge in all of Project Runway history.  For some, this is an easy project.  At the three hour mark, there are a few that are almost finished, the others; they are having every problem in the book. Sewing machines, hot glue and lack of fabric are bringing chaos to the lives of some of the designers.

Diane Von Furstenberg and Miranda Kerr were the guest judges and Miranda would wear the winning dress to an industry event.  Some of my fave dresses were by Jerell, Michael, and Mondo. They were all so flowy and soft and beautiful.  Mila’s dress was beautiful and it had color but it had a few imperfections.
This week’s winner is not a shocking pick… I love it.  Tonight’s elimination…. I really didn’t see that coming. I just… wow

Project Runway All Stars ep 3

Last week we had to say good bye to one of my faves in the competition, Sweet P.  Her dress that she created was pretty, but not exactly a ball gown for the opera type of pretty.

On episode 3, the designers have to create a stunning outfit for the super fabulous Miss Piggy! All the designers are ecstatic about designing for Miss Piggy, well maybe not Anthony.   This week, Isaac wasn’t there but Eric Daman (costume designer for Gossip Girl) took his place as a judge.  Some of my personal faves of tonight were Anthony, Mila, and Austin.  Out of my 3 faves, 2 were in the top/bottom 6.
I only wish that Antony was in the top 3 because he created something that was totally different from everyone else.  Mostly everyone chose pink, pink and more pink.  I wish they would have stepped out the box more.  One of the designs that happened to be in the top 3 was a total wreck, in my opinion.

Project Runway All-Stars

Tonight was the premiere of Project Runway All Stars and I have never been more excited.  The best “losers” of past seasons come back to duke out for some of the best prizes.  The prizes include $100,000 in technology, $100,000 in cash, and a designer’s boutique in Neiman Marcus, a chance to serve as guest editor in Marie Claire magazine, and spread in the magazine.

For this new installment of Project Runway, don’t look for Heidi, Nina or Michael.  Model Angela Lindvall will serve as host and designers Isaac Mirzrahi and Georgina Chapman will serve as judges.  Of course there has to be a mentor to the cast and Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles will take Tim Guinn’s place.

The list of the returning all-stars:
Kenley Collins — Season 5
Michael Costello — Season 8
Gordana Gehlhausen — Season 6
Mondo Guerra — Season 8
Mila Hermanovski — Season 7
Kara Janx — Season 2
Elisa Jimenez — Season 4
April Johnston — Season 8
Rami Kashou — Season 4
Austin Scarlett — Season 1
Jerell Scott — Season 5
Sweet P/Kathleen Vaughn — Season 4
Anthony Williams — Season 7

This episode was everything I wanted and more… mostly because of Anthony Williams and his sayings.  It’s a toss-up on who is going to win this season; everyone is still talented and hasn’t lost their touch on creating beautiful pieces of work.

Tonight’s assignment was to create an outfit from 99 cent store materials and the contestants had a budget of $100 dollars.  Some of the top designs came from Rami, Jerell and Mondo (of course.) The creations looked like they just walked off the runway. Simply amazing.

The elimination of the night wasn’t a huge surprise. I saw it coming and I’m really glad that this person is gone (come on, did you re4ally think that I would tell you who was eliminated tonight.)
