Project Runaway Season 10 Episode 7

I’ve already thought of this season’s Project Runway was already just a tad bit whack, Ven’s actions from last week cemented the deal.  The only reason I’m still watching is to see where this is going.

Nathan was let go last week.  The way things were going, it felt like there might be two people leaving the runway, but we were let down when Heidi decided to keep Ven

The designers and Tim take a trip to Lord and Taylor on 5th avenue.  The designers are creating a cocktail or evening dress and then the winning dress will be manufactured and included with nine other dresses from previous seasons’ winners of the challenge.  The collection must be cohesive with the previous winners’ designs.  There is no budget because the materials are supplied to them by the manufacture, J S Collections.
The women are having a really hard time with this challenge.  I would have thought since they are designing for women, they should be able to create for women.

“Who puts a harness on a baby doll dress?” hahahahahahaha

The president of Lord and Taylor, Bonnie Brooks is the guest judge for this week.  There are some really great dresses this week made by the men.  I love it.  The women didn’t do too badly this week as they thought they did.  By far, my favorite dress of this challenge has to be Dmitry.  His was awesome, but he wasn’t in the top.  There was actually four in the top and two in the bottom.  There were some ladies in the top!

“You came up with something that looks like a field hockey uniform.”  Oh Michael Kors, I love you.

The ending tonight… I can’t believe it... Although I kinda saw it coming.
TEAM CHALLENGE NEXT WEEK!

Project Runway Season 10 Episode 5 or 6….

Yea I’ve lost count of what number episode we are on.  I need for some more drama to happen cause its getting predictable…
Raul got kicked off. AGAIN.  And it was well deserved cause he sucks at challenges. Oh and its episode 6...
I have a feeling I’m gonna wanna punch Ven out just from the previews.  And Elena, but that’s a given.
Heidi brings out some on to the stage and of course, Elena is first to complain.  She says something like these are just people and they have nothing to do with fashion. BITCH.  Heidi tells the designers that the people on the stage are not exactly the clients they have to design for but they have a friend who is in need of a style makeover.   Tim and the consulting hair expert for L’Oreal Paris, Johnny Lavoy is waiting in the work room to discuss the challenge with the designers.  The clients have been assigned randomly and the challenge is a one day assignment.

Of course you are gonna get all types of people, women who dress in men’s clothes, plus size, super skinny, all types.  Ven has to realize that people who buy his clothes will not be all straight stick thin ladies. He is being a complete dick.  Dmitry took it a different way, he said his client was plain, but saw it as an opportunity to create something beautiful.
Gunnar actually seems human in this episode.  His described his clothes as being for the average woman.  He is growing a lil bit on me. Not much tho.

Ven is plus sized; he needs to not forget that and remember he is no damn where near skinny. He said something so tacky even Elena said she lost respect for him. I thought Tim was going to punch the hell out of Ven in the way he was describing his client.  I’m about to cry just seeing her upset.
There is a client whose name is Ko-Rely. I freakin love her!

Heidi is working this red, black and white striped dress. Get it girl. Special guest judge is British designer Alice Temperley.
I am in love with Fabio’s dress! It’s absolutely amazing.  I also love. .. Wait for it… Gunnar’s.

The people who I thought would be in the top and bottom is exactly where I knew they would be. Gunnar, Dmitry and Fabio were in the top.  I fast-forwarded through them.  I needed to get to Michael Kors critiques.   Sonji, Ven and Nathan are in the bottom two.

Michael Kors had on some Chucks…
SHIT JUST GOT REAL ON THIS EPISODE.... OH MY GOD.

August Birchbox--- 300th post!

Hello dahlings… yes I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a post about Birchbox products but since it is my 300th post, id figured I’d give you guys a treat.  For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription of samples and products.  Some of the items can be hair, makeup, beauty and even sweet treats.

The August Birchbox is by far my favorite box that I’ve gotten and when I tell you the reason why, you might think I’m a lil bit weird…
First in the box was Caldrea, a hand soap loaded with aloe vera and olive oil to keep hand soft.  This will be useful for the upcoming fall and winter months or if you are a constant hand washer.  DDF, a brightening cleanser was the next product in the box. It’s a foaming gel to help fade discoloration and even out skin tone.  As a woman of color, I am excited to use this to help fade acne scars that I have.  A sample of Juicy Couture, Viva La Juicy La Fleur was also included.  I have a slight problem with Juicy fragrances.  In the past they go on strong and fade ever so quickly.  I tried every trick in the book to help the fragrance stay on as long as possible, but nothing worked.  Per-fékt Beauty, Lash Perfection Gel was in the box.  It claims to boost lashes with primer, conditioner and mascara.  As someone with very lackluster lashes, I’m pretty amped to try this too.

The best part of this box is what’s not listed on the “supply list,” a Schick Hydro Silk Razor!  It has five blades and is all out awesome.  This razor is kinda pricey and for them to include it in the box is kinda awesome.  I’m always on the hunt for a razor that gives me a close, smooth shave and this is it!

Don’t make fun of me and my joy!

Project Runway Season 10 Ep 5

Well I think we are on episode 5… well anyway, Buffi was kicked off.  Her poor choice in fabrics and poor craftsmanship was a factor in her getting the boot.

On this episode, the designers are teamed up together to create work ready but editorial looks for Marie Claire magazine.  The designers will be working in 2 groups and a majority of the people hates this idea.  The designers will also get to be over the photo shoot for the look.  Because of the uneven numbers, one team will make five looks and the other will make six.

Team Six is already having issues.  Raul.
Team Five, great concept, Fall into Color…  There is gonna be a problem with this team. Gunnar.
After the designers come back from Mood, one of the bags for Team Six is missing. Elena might have a stroke. She doesn’t like the color pallet they chose; she doesn’t like a damn thing.

Let me just add this really quick cause if I hear one more designer say this I’m gonna freak out… They keep saying that they want to show their own personality as a designer.  PLEASE GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF.  The fashion world is ever changing and if you don’t change and keep shit fresh, you will get left behind.  You are never working alone; you are trying to please a client.  You can still be yourself and be cohesive part in a group challenge.

One way monkey…. No I ment one trick pony. HA!

I need Elena to be off this show.  She is very negative and a bitch.

The guest judge is Joanna Cole, editor of Marie Claire magazine.
For the first time in Project Runway history with a challenge like this, there is a tie.  They talk to Five and love the designs. Except for Gunner.
For the Six, they love everything expect for the ruffle top made by Raul.

Two puppies wrestling in a sack.  Boy they had some great lines.
No shock on who was kicked off today

Project Runway Season 10 Ep 4

Ok please forgive me but I have no idea who was kicked off last week, well I don’t know which one.  There was a man and a woman left. Ill get back to that.
Oh wait, his name was Raul.

It’s the start of the show and someone is missing… its Andrea (the old lady).  She gets up and just leaves in the middle of the night…

The designers head over to Michael Kors’ flagship store on Madison Avenue.  Tim starts talking about Andrea and her leaving the show.

“Fashion is not for sissys!” oh Michael Kors

This challenge is the Michael Kors Challenge; the designers have to create a look for a woman on the go. A look that represents the designers, but yet has to be comfortable and fashionable.   The buget is $150 and one day to complete.
So while everyone is in the studio and they are discussing Andrea and her decision to leave.  Christopher feels incredibly guilty and even blames himself.  Then Quan (the Asian kid with the afro) decides he wants to leave too!  People start crying! It’s a hot ass mess.  Tim comes in and gathers everyone around.  Andrea sent an email saying that she is fine and doesn’t want to be on the show anymore. Tim is flabbergasted.  Quan interrupts Tim and tells him that he is leaving.  Quan wants to do his fashion in his own way.  Tim looks visually upset, I do not like this. Two designers in less than 24 hours out the door.  Tim comes back and also brings back Raul!  Everyone is happy that Raul is back, except for Ven.  He says he is a complainer. Whatever.

Fish Whistle.

I wish Ven would stop being so damn fascinated with Raul.

The special guest judge this week is Hayden Panettiere.  And on a side note, she is a singer? UM OK.  We are treated by a second guest judge, Rachel Roy.  Heidi is rocking a fierce one shoulder, leopard print dress this evening. Love it!  I thought Buffi’s dress was gonna be a complete mess, it was way better than I thought.  There are some designers are showing the same thing every time.  It’s starting to get old to me.

The people in the top and bottom, not a shock at all.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux engaged!

In news that makes me happy, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are engaged.  On Friday, Theroux popped the question to Aniston after dating for over a year and a half.  The couple has been on a whirlwind vacation through and celebrating Theroux’s 41st birthday when he popped the question.
This is the second marriage for Aniston (ex-husband Brad Pitt) and the first for Theroux.
If you don't know who Justin Theroux is, I suggest you google him.

I’ve always been team Aniston! #teamJennifer

OOTD: America’s Next Top Model

I could never be on America’s Next Top Model.   Mostly cause I’m too short.  Oh and I’m way too old.  I need to be more aware when I take photos of the lighting and of the clothes themselves.  I should have adjusted my shirt and pants.  Or not even do the one leg pose. And find better lighting.

This is stuff I should know. I should add that those pants are one size smaller than what I normally wear and they were still too big.

Necklace: Macy's/Shirt: Old Navy/ Sweater: Lane Bryant/ Pants:Avenue/ Shoes: Payless

They were too long but I flipped up the cuff and made it work.  I love the mixed prints of the sweater and the pants.  Such a fabulous contrast.

Project Runway Season 10 Episode 3

Lantie (or however you spell it) was finally kicked off!  She should have been kicked off the first episode but apparently the judges did not agree with my decision.

Tonights challenge is making a red carpet ready dress.  It’s also the Lexus challenge and a red carpet dress for the Emmys.  The car that you are assigned to is the color that you have to incorporate into your design.   The designers have 300 dollars and one day to complete this challenge.  Oh, it’s a team challenge. The designers hop in the cars to meet their clients, which are former winners and contestants on past episode of Project Runway.  Anya, Kenley, Irina, Valerie, Mila, April and Laura are the designers that are the clients and the winning team gets to accompany the designer to the Emmys.

Elena is having a nervous breakdown.  She needs to calm the fuck down.  And she is blaming Buffi for all the problems.   Some of the other teams are also breaking at the seams.  The people that you would thought be bumping heads are actually working well together.

Irina is still a bitch.

Krysten Ritter is the guest judge.
First let me say for as much static as Buffy and Elena had, the dress is fab.  I would have styled the hair differently, but I love it.

It’s really hard to know who is going to be out this week cause the dresses are not that bad to me.  Don’t get me wrong there are some dresses that are eh, but with a few tweaks things could be changed and made to look better.  Of the top designers, not expected.  They should have been the ones that should have just barely gotten by.  The bottom people, totally expected, well kinda.

Someone cries. PRICELESS.

Project Runway Season 10 Episode 2

Unfortunately Beatrice was out last week, which was undeserving, but that is just my opinion.

Hold up, they get a Lexus if they win?  Way to step up your game Project Runway.

This episode’s challenge starts off at Dylan’s Candy Bar.  For those who don’t know, the owner of Dylan’s Candy Bar is Dylan Lauren, the daughter of American designer Ralph Lauren.  This challenge is the unconventional materials challenge; create a look out of candy. The budget was $250 but Dylan gave them 50% and so they got $500 dollars’ worth of material!  A majority of the designers are very inspired by the candy challenge.  If you were a fan of past seasons, they usually do this challenge, so they should have been prepared.

Christopher and Gunnar are gonna have a bitch fight. I just know it. #TeamChristopher Gunnar is the type of person to start stuff just because he can.  He thinks Christopher is out to get him but he isn’t….

There is one designer… lawd help her.  She aint ready for all of this.

Elena gets burned on her leg with the hot glue gun.  Maybe she should have worn pants instead of short shorts… and she is about to have a nervous breakdown
.
There were some good, bad and horrible.  It’s a candy challenge and when you use non-candy elements, and then it’s a problem.  I loved Sonja, Ven, and Fabio.  The bad ones were Andrea and Lantie.
Its gonna be no shock on who gets cut.
