The 84th Academy Awards (Pic Heavy)

My favorite part of the Academy Awards this year is the clothing (and George Clooney) because I have seen very few of the films nominated in the categories.   Everyone looks stunning with very few misses.

House of Deréon Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Normally I’m not a huge fan of House of Deréon clothing, the clothing seems too flashy, too short, too tight and 90% of the time both.  Looking at the new Spring/Summer collection, it looks like the line is evolving into some something that may not just be seen as “urban wear.”  Don’t get me wrong, there is still short and tight, but it’s a little bit more fashionable and defiantly on trend.

Tons of colors and floral patterns… Ponchos and jumpsuits… Shorts and plenty of skirts…

Pop Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Tracee Ellis Ross (again!)

Tracee Ellis Ross looks stunning in a short, flirty dress at the Essence Magazine’s 5th Annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon.  I’m not a huge fan of the tights but the overall outfit is great. Do you guys like her red hair?

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Viola Davis

OH. MY. GOD. Viola Davis is looking stunning in an all-white Victoria Beckham dress at the Essence Magazine’s 5th Annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon.  Words escape me on how absolutely beautiful she looks.  The best part is that Viola ditched the wigs she usually wears and worked her natural hair. Simply stunning.

Project Runway All Stars—Ep 8

We are getting gown to the fip inal 6 and the competition is getting HOT!  Kara finally got the boot (she should have been kicked off awhile back, but I’m not a judge.)  I liked Kenley’s outfit, but it didn’t fit the particular guidelines of the challenge, but she made to it through the next round.

The beginning of the challenge takes place in front of the United Nations building and all are excited.  The challenge for the designers are to design a dress inspire by the flags of the country of the major world regions.  The countries are Chile, Greece, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, India, and the Seychelles.   Each will select a flag and the colors and the culture will influence the look.  The budget was $200 dollars.

At first, some of the designers started off kinda rocky, making the dresses look too costumey.  I will say this, some of the costumes where completely out of the box, which is a good thing.  And some looked like they were about to enter a pageant!  The absolutely fabulous Catherine Malandrino was the guest judge for this challenge and was picked because she created an entire collection based on the American flag.  My faves where Jerell, Mila, Mondo and (shock) Kenley.  Kenley’s dress was sooo different from the rest and that makes it unique!

It’s down to the final five… who do you think is gonna win it?

Project Runway All Stars—Ep 7

The judges aint playin around.  For sure I thought Rami would be one of the top 3 showing his collection at NYFW, but I was very wrong.  Rami was kicked off due to a horrible looking shirt that was the nail in the coffin for him.  Jerell won his first challenge after having major static with another designer … Congrats!

The challenge was a first for Project Runway, the winner of the challenge would have his or her design feature in the Broadway revival of Godspell and bio in the playbill.  The designers had to design an outfit that can be put together as separates.  Mondo is starting to struggle with his designs and his challenges, he clothes are starting to look over worked and heavy.

The outfits were cute, but I don’t know if they exactly fit the challenge at hand.  Mondo, Jerell, Michael and Kinsley (I know right!) were my faves and of course the judges didn’t agree.  Not at all shocked by who was eliminated this time…

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Gwyneth Paltrow

No words... Just lovely.  Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2012 Grammys.

Stella McCartney dress...

Pop Culture Fashionista or Faux Fashionista: Serena Williams

Clive Davis said that Whitney Houston would have wanted his pre-Grammy party to go on and it did.  Serena Williams is a show stopper in this strapless green dress.  I think this is the best she has ever looked at an event.  The hair is on point, the dress is banging… girl work it!
